NYAF: The Ultimate Tomino Autograph

So as many of you know NYAF was this past weekend and the huge guest for this year was Yoshiyuki Tomino, the creator of Gundam amongst other things. I was fortunate enough to get a ticket to get an autograph from this great man and I thought I would share it with everyone.
As everyone knows Yoshiyuki Tomino was the creator and director of Gundam. He did many other works as well, and I decided to get one of those other works signed. I decided to get Garzey’s Wing signed. Now the proper response to that should be “HELL YEAH that is the most awesome thing ever” but I have a feeling that a lot of people are thinking “WTF IS GARZEY’S WING“?
Garzey’s Wing is quite possibly the worst thing Tomino ever directed. It is legendary for it’s horrid quality and for not making any damn sense. Not to mention it had a dub by CPM that is a legend in and of itself for how horrible it is. If you want to learn more about this masterpiece I recommend Justin Servakis’ post on ANN about how horrible it is found here. So when I was trying to think of an item to bring to Tomino to sign, the first thing I thought of was Garzey’s Wing, and let me tell you, he loved it!

I will be honest, I was quite nervous as it was getting to be my turn in line with him; because, I was afraid of how he was going to react. I am quite thrilled to say that he thought it was quite funny. He was basically laughing the whole time I was there too. It was a surreal experience, and I am sure he didn’t expect to see someone bring him Garzey’s Wing ever. All I can say is that this will be a story I will tell for quite a long time to come. Thank You Tomino!
